Thomas Lee Purdham

October 24, 1939 — July 8, 2015

Thomas Purdham passed away Wednesday morning, July 8, 2015 at Wood County Hospital with his family by his side.  His life was cut short by dementia and Alzheimers disease.  Tom was born October 24, 1939 to Carl and Margaret Purdham in Clyde, Ohio.  He graduated from Clyde High School in 1957 and then went to BGSU where he graduated in 1961.  He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.  Tom worked at Surface Combustion for 40 years retiring in 2001.  He enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states.  Tom loved to golf and was a member of Spuyten Duyval Golf Course for 30 years.  He also had an HO train hobby which filled three quarters of his basement.  Tom took pride in his lawn which he enjoyed mowing.  He was a conscientious worker which was attributed to his first job as a paper boy at the age of 6.  Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting those who were out of town.  He was a faithful member of Epiphany Lutheran Church for 46 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Marilyn and children, Kenneth (Lori) of Vadnais Hts., MN, Michelle (Carl) Hallstrom, Temperance, MI and Robert and his wonderful grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Paige, and Nicholas Hallstrom;  Emily and Aaron Purdham.  Other survivors are his siblings, Carl (Evie) Purdham, Denver, CO, Mary (Will) Miller, Fremont, OH, John Purdham, W. Virginia, and Richard Purdham.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Doebel. Toms family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale of Bowling Green (Clare Bridge) for the compassionate care given during his last year of life. The family will receive guests on from 2-8:00pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) and  from 10:00-11:00am Monday, July 13, 2015 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Rd. Toledo, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimers Association.  Online condolences may be shared at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
