Thomas V. Phipps, Jr.

Thomas V. Phipps Jr. age 80 formerly of Maumee, OH passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital.  Tom was born in Havre de Grace, MD on February 20, 1942, to Thomas and Hazel (Senter) Phipps Sr.

Tom was employed for most of his career at The Anderson’s in Maumee.  He spent his career in Information Technology, and eventually retired as a systems engineer at the Lathrop Company. He developed his skills and passion for working on computers while serving in the US Navy.  Although Tom also served 3 years in the US Army, he was most proud and spent the majority of his service with the US Navy, aboard the USS Albany.

Tom attended Abiding Word Lutheran Church in Bowling Green, where he very much enjoyed worshiping and practicing his very strong faith.  He still enjoyed working on computers every day, and before his beloved wife Jan passed in 2012, their passion included camping and houseboating as often as possible with each other and with their friends.

Surviving are his daughters, Wendy (Dan) Echelberry and Wanda (Pete) Brotzki.  Granddaughters Breanna (Andre) Carpenter, Danielle (Aaron) Overholt, Zandra Echelberry, Sydney Mason, Taylor Mason, and 4 great-grandchildren.  Sisters, Patricia Wiley and Joy Curry, and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice (Wogsland) Phipps.

Friends and family will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St.,  Maumee on Monday, July 25, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held at Abiding Word Lutheran Church, 17202 Mercer Rd, Bowling Green, OH on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 10:30 AM (visitation beginning at 9:30 AM).  Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee.
