Thomas Foofa Emmit Petersen, 64, of Martin, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital, Maumee. He was born April 16, 1945, to Clyde and Muriel Murray Petersen, in Toledo, Ohio. On January 18, 1969, Thomas married the love of his life, Bonajean Bloomfield, in Millbury, Ohio. Thomas was very proud to be a Marine and served two tours in Vietnam. He worked at Brush Wellman for 39 years retiring in 2002. He enjoyed motorcycles, Jeeps, woodworking, reading, and drawing with his oldest grandson, Gavin. He received the nickname Foofa, from his grandchildren, and he became known as Foofa to everyone. Thomas lived for his family and loved every minute he spent with them. Surviving to cherish his memory are son, Tom Petersen, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kelly Gorman Petersen; grandsons, Gavin and Gage Petersen; sister, Suzanne Bob Dougherty; brothers, John Marilyn Petersen and Dan Diane Petersen; He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bonajean Petersen, and brother, Jacob Petersen. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 14, 2010 in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorials for Thomas be directed to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa is assisting the family with arrangements.
