Thomas J. Perry

June 2, 1951 — August 21, 2017

Thomas J. Perry, age 66, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017, with his wife by his side, after a 2 1/2 year battle with Glioblastoma. The son of Chester and Irene, he was born June 2, 1951 in Toledo, OH. He attended Erie Mason High School. He married the love of his life, Lisa Nissen on January 4, 1975. Tom worked as a union car hauler for Jack Cooper Transport. Tom owned his own rig for 10 years, for six of those years, Lisa worked by his side creating many great memories and meeting many wonderful people. He and Lisa were fans of the Detroit Lions and regularly watched them together. He also liked NASCAR and going to the casino. The family dogs, Rocky and Harley, brought him great joy and comfort. He had two goals during his battle, to attend his youngest sons wedding and meet his fourth grandchild and he accomplished both. Tom was a gifted builder, skilled at everything he did, and found great pride in his work. He had an amazing work ethic that he passed down to his sons. He would do anything for anyone and ask nothing in return, a selfless giver. Tom was the best role model and father his sons could have. Because of his hard work, he was able to provide his family with a lifetime of wonderful memories. He was a great husband, who adored his wife deeply. He was a strong person who fought hard through his illness. The world is a better place because of Tom. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lisa; children, Chad (Catie), Brad (Beckie) and Tom (Alexa) Perry; grandchildren, Alana, Katelyn, Nathan and Bennett. He also had a great love for his mother-in-law, Jill Aspacher; brothers-in-law, Rock Nissen, Scott, Allen (Gina) and Dwight (Erica) Aspacher. Also surviving are his siblings, Betty Zettler, Bob (Dottie) Perry, Richard Perry, Jimmy (Joyce) Perry, Judy (Richard) Allen and Joyce Day. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Lucio. There will be a memorial service at the Perry residence on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM followed by a celebration of Toms life.
