Thomas Alan Knoop, 80, of Elmore, OH passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, OH. He was born on January 17, 1943 in Warsaw, IN to Russell Valentine and Axsa Bernice (Anglin) Knoop. Tom graduated from Warsaw High School where he played basketball and baseball. He also earned an associate degree from Ft. Wayne International Business College in 1965 and served in the Indiana National Guard.
On September 10, 1967, in Angola, IN, Tom married the love of his life, Sharon M. Ladd. Tom was a very loving husband and father. In addition to his loving wife of over 56 years, Tom is survived by his children, Todd (Daria Fisher Page) Knoop, Tisha (Scott) Augustyniak, and Tiffany Hetrick. He also is survived by eight grandchildren: Cameron Augustyniak, Eden Knoop, Elijah Augustyniak, Jonah Hetrick, Daphne Knoop, Julia Hetrick, Wendell Page, and Albie Page. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom worked for WR Thomas Stores in Oak Harbor and Port Clinton for over 30 years, and then for Community Markets in Oak Harbor, retiring in 2013. In addition to his family and work, Tom was very active in the community. He had a giving nature and was a faithful servant of the Lord. He always enjoyed helping those in need—providing comfort to the sick in local hospitals and nursing homes. He also loved attending and working for his church, first at the Fremont Church of Christ and, most recently, at Fremont Alliance Church. Anyone who knew Tom also knew he had additional passion for sports (especially his New York Yankees).
Tom's smile, his presence, and his unconditional love will be greatly missed.
