Thomas E Kaiser, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio surrounded by his loving family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Jane, and children Amy (Adam) Michael and Jeffrey (Kristin) Kaiser, and three granddaughters, Elise, Cecilia and Hadley. Tom is also survived by his brothers, Christian and Richard Kaiser. Preceding Tom in death were his parents, Ed and Helen Kaiser. He was a grandfather, father, husband and a kind friend. Tom had a special place in the hearts of many, known to be entertaining and often inspiring. Sharp of wit, he will be remembered fondly and with laughter. Warm and loving, one of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his 3 granddaughters ("We love Gramps!") Tom was a 1959 graduate of Devilbiss High and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Ohio University. Tom began his working career as a Systems Analyst, working at Surface Combustion, then Champion Spark Plug and EDS. He then followed his interest in finance and retired as a respected Financial Planner. He was a gifted problem solver. He gained true satisfaction in helping people and always made time for those in need. Since retiring, he has enjoyed time with family, traveling and tinkering with classic cars. Just in the past few years he celebrated his daughter's wedding and his 50th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed "supervising" family home improvement projects. He even chased the three energetic granddaughters around on a family cruise this past spring. He and Jane traveled to many places around the globe together and also enjoyed road trips with the Lake Erie British Car Club. It would be common to find him fishing with the granddaughters or tinkering around the family home at Clear Lake, Indiana. Tom was a member of First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg. Many thanks to the staff of Toledo Clinic Oncology, the Toledo Hospital Adult ICU nurses and the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was a very special person and will be greatly missed by his loved ones, but they know that he is now at peace. Friends will be received on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Tom’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Drive Suite B, Perrysburg, Ohio, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
