Thomas C. Hunter, Sr.

Thomas “Tom” C. Hunter, Sr., of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his home on December 11, 2023. He was born in Toledo on September 22, 1949, to his late parents, Edward and Jeanette (Curtiss) Hunter. He graduated from Start High School in 1967. Tom became a very skilled journeyman and process engineer. After a full and successful career, he retired from Chrysler.

He was a proud and loving father to his three children, Tom Jr, Anna and April. He was exceptionally endeared by his only granddaughter, Andréa. He loved music and fondly remembered his time singing in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Choir. He loved hunting, fishing and just being outdoors, and enjoying everything nature had to offer. One of his favorite places to spend his time was Coho Bend in Manistee, MI surrounded by his many friends that felt like family. He was an avid fisherman, and in his boat, he confidently navigated the Big Manistee River with ease. Tom’s simple joys in life were spent on his back porch of his home where you could find him grilling family dinners and enjoying the wildlife that passed through.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to his caregivers, Bonnie, Beth, B.J, Linda, and cousin, Angie who helped our family care for him in his last few years. He will be incredibly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Tommy Hunter Jr., Anna (Ron Parrish) Hunter; granddaughter, Andréa Hunter; siblings, Dennis (Vanessa), John, Kitty, and Patrick; and the mother of his three children, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, April Lynn Hunter; siblings, Edward “Bud”, Susan Hunter-Kugler, and Timothy.

His funeral services are being held privately amongst the family. A Celebration of Life will occur at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made out to The Nature Conservancy, in Tom’s honor.
