Thomas “Tom” G. Hoffmann passed away surrounded by his loving sons on April 7, 2016 in Gainesville, Florida at the age of 86. Tom is survived by sons, David G. Hoffmann of Atlanta, GA, Mark T. (Kristen Butler) Hoffmann of Chesterfield, VA, and Ernest S. (Lynne Knake) Hoffmann of Holland, OH; grandchildren, Lorraine (Woodruff) Hoffmann-Polk of Atlanta, GA, Kristopher Hoffmann of Miami, FL, Stephen Hoffmann of Detroit, MI, Thomas (Kristen) Hoffmann of St. Petersburg, FL, and Hailey (Chad) Hines of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Nicholas, Katherine, Samantha, and Isla. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia A. Hoffmann (nee Dibling) of Perrysburg, Ohio. Tom was born on July 29, 1929 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Ernest and Hazel (nee Cotter) Hoffmann. He graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1948. Tom married Patricia “Pat” Dibling, his school sweetheart, in 1950. Tom and his brother, Robert Hoffmann, successfully ran the family business, the Sunny Service Oil Company (Perrysburg’s Low-Price Station), in Perrysburg, Ohio. Over several years, Tom and Pat welcomed three sons into their home. Tom’s children remember him as a kind father and true gentleman with a playful sense of humor who encouraged a devotion to God, dedication to family, and a strong work ethic. Tom was an accomplished athlete, outdoorsman, and gamesman. He loved hitting the links with his wife at Valleywood Country Club, where he was a longtime member. Tom was an enthusiastic and devoted individual committed to community service. He was an active, life-long member of Saint Rose Parish, as well as a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 7978, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #1850. His generosity and kindness of spirit will forever be missed by those who knew and loved him. Friends will be received at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Rosary Service will be held on Friday at 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Prayers will be recited at 9:45 A.M. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the funeral home, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose Catholic Church.
