Thomas Laurence Fink

Thomas Laurence Fink, 76, of Maumee, Ohio passed away on January 12, 2018 with family by his side after losing a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on June 25, 1941 to Wilfred and Helen Rose in Dayton, Ohio and raised his family in Maumee, Ohio where he worked for Ford Motor Company as a mill right for 32 years. Tom was the man, the myth, the fix-it legend; cars, toilets stuffed with 3 rolls of paper, need twenty bucks he had it covered. While working on said projects he boasted a prolific repertoire of colorful language, melodic, memorable and quotable in perfect rhythm by all of his boys. Beyond his joy in a job well done was his never-ending love of family, especially his grandchildren including all the activities that came with them; long visits, sporting events, babysitting, hosting sleepovers, even the dreaded trips to Chuck E. Cheese. He enjoyed bowling tournaments and hitting the slots with his wife Kathleen and loved getting in the car and going anywhere, just for the fun of it; he would often go missing for a day only to show up at dinner time with a pizza and pretzels from his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Tom had a vigor for life that was second to none and prided himself on his 26 year sobriety, which he often credited to his drive to be the BEST DAD EVER (which he most certainly was). Tom is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen, children Gary (Pam), Brian (Jamie), Christopher, Charles (Kelli), and Wilfred (Jessica); grandchildren Mathew, Stacey, Taylor, Meredith, Ian, Quintin, Marlow ; great grandchild Oliver; 2 grand-dogs; brother Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dave, and daughter Barbara. He will be dearly missed by all. Family and friends will be received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 3:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January, 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
