Thomas E. Sattler, 76 years old, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, June 8, 2016. Tom was born January 24, 1940 in Perrysburg, Ohio. He graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucille Sattler, daughter, Amy Elizabeth Sattler, and sisters, Betty Elchert and Donna Mocniak. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Paula A. (Deeth) Sattler; his sons, Gregory (Jennifer) Sattler, William (Liz) Sattler; grandchildren, Daniel, Emily, Benjamin Sattler and Cameron Brandt; his brother, Stanley Sattler; sisters, Jeanette “Sis” Krout, Barbara “Peg” Russell, Lois Bruce and Pat Relitz and many nieces and nephews. An entrepreneur, Tom started his own painting business, Thomas E. Sattler Painting & Wallpapering, in 1968. He also developed and managed numerous commercial and residential properties and enjoyed being a landlord. While he never formally retired from work, in 2006, he and Paula started spending winters in Florida. He was an avid hunter who made annual trips to the family cabin in Pennsylvania, enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, and loved to regale friends and family with jokes and stories as only he could tell them. Tom was a lifelong member of St. Rose Catholic Church, and was an usher. He will be dearly missed by his family, but they trust he is in our Lord's hands and that they will see him again soon. Friends will be received on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2 - 8 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133). Prayers will be recited in the funeral home Monday, June 13, 2016 at 9:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 E. Front St, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551. Burial will follow in St. Rose Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Perrysburg Christians United, P.O. Box 135, Perrysburg, Ohio 43552.
