Thomas L. Durbin, 85, of Oak Harbor died early morning, December 1, 2015, at Riverview Healthcare Campus in Oak Harbor. Tom was born May 29, 1930, in New Riegel, Ohio, to Bernard M. and Hilda R. (Siebenaller) Durbin. On June 20, 1953, he married Sara L. Aylsworth at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wooster, Ohio; she preceded him in death June 28, 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Counter Intelligence during the Korean War and was an active member of the Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114. Tom worked as an accountant for Owens-Illinois Libbey Glass in Toledo for 30+ years, retiring in 1985. Tom was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Oak Harbor. He was also very active with the Oak Harbor Knights of Columbus #1944, receiving his 3rd Degree in 1956 and 4th Degree in 1961. He also served as Grand Knight, recorder, financial secretary for 30+ years. Tom was a Faithful Navigator and member of the DeSoto Assembly 4th Degree serving as comptroller for 20+ years and Former Master of Northwest Ohio District. He also served as District Deputy, State Fraternal and State Ceremonial Chairman. He served on public relations, social action, membership, fraternal, community, youth and pro-life committees, as well as serving four years as State Administrative Assistant to two state deputies. Tom is survived by his children: Thomas E. Durbin, Diane (Herman) Dehring, both of Oak Harbor, Barbara (Ed) Murzynski of Mentor, Edward (Kim) Durbin, MD, PhD, of Granger, IN, Michael (Kim) Durbin of Spring Hill, TN, Steven (Francine) Durbin of Medina and Jeffrey (Michelle) Durbin of Lewis Center; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; brother, John (Donna) Durbin of Sandusky, and sister, Eileen (James) Schleter of Lima. His parents and wife, Sara, preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, with a Knights of Columbus service starting at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Parish Wake service. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2015, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 215 Church St., Oak Harbor, beginning with prayers offered at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, with military graveside services conducted by the Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114. Memorial contributions for Tom may be directed to St. Boniface Catholic Church, K of C Charities, or Oak Harbor American Legion Post #114.
