Thomas Drabek

In loving memory of Thomas Drabek 85, who passed away on Friday April 19th surrounded by his loving family. Tom was the devoted husband of Joyce, father of Julie, Michelle (Tim), Susan (Scott), grandfather of Nicholas, Emily (Tim), Zachary Thomas and Katie (Ian) and great grandfather of Jackson Thomas, Tucker, Holden, Harper and Cooper.

Tom was one of the kindest, loving souls around. He was a gentle giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure his family had everything they needed. Tom married Joyce, ‘Mutz,’ the love of his life, and for the next 62 years built a loving family, making many memories and instilling strong family values.

Tom was the heart of his family. Where you would find Tom the rest of his ‘harem’ was always close by creating wonderful memories. From our weekly Feed the Family nights, to our outdoor BBQ, or a drive to the Parlor for ice cream, Tom was at his happiest. One thing that his family looked forward to the most was his yearly call singing Happy Birthday as off key as possible.

Tom’s hobbies included rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes, Detroit Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers. He had a passion for woodworking creating beautiful birdhouses and log cabins.

Tom was a skilled painter who at one time painted in the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. He worked as a painter for Toledo Public Schools for over 20 years. Tom retired after working 60 years and began enjoying weekly lunches with his many friends and swinging on the porch with his wife enjoying their beautiful home.

Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, on Tuesday, April 23, from 4pm-7pm, with Rosary at 6:15pm. Prayers will be recited at Walker Funeral Home at 10am on Wednesday, April 24, with a Funeral Mass following at 11am at Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment will follow at East Swanton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
