Thomas Robert Dick

d. August 12, 2018

Thomas Robert Dick With a smile on his lips and his eyes bright and focused on his heavenly escort, Thomas Robert Dick, age 61, departed earth on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Thomas bravely fought blood cancer since 2012. His favorite Bible verse was 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Thomas was a graduate of St. Agnes Elementary School, DeVilbiss High School, and during his adult years a graduate of Owens Community College with an associates degree in industrial technology. Over the years Tom worked at Marathon Lanes, Cosco Graphics as a printing die mounter and sales rep, a carbide grinding machinist and sales rep for Machining Technologies, and more recently as a CDL driver for Tri-State Aluminum and American Transportation Company. Thomas enjoyed the great outdoors, a love instilled during his years as a boy scout. Fishing, camping, and golfing were favorite activities. When autumn arrived, Thomas could be found doing what he enjoyed best - bowling! He was a smooth left-handed bowler and was excellent at the sport achieving four 300 games. Thomas bowled 28 consecutive years at the USBC Open Championships and enjoyed traveling to the different venues throughout the states. Family and relationships were important to Thomas. Special memories included family and friends vacationing to lake cottages, Gatlinburg, and Disney World. Tom was preceded in death by his father Vincent, and is survived by his mother Bernadine (Mittendorf), wife, Patrice (Benner), daughter, Emily, brothers Ken (Connie), David (Susan), sisters Karen, Jane, and Mary (Gary), as well as many dear nephews, nieces and great nieces who brought joy to his life. We would like to acknowledge our dear friends who served as Tom’s caregivers over the last several months: Keith Cooper, Mary Keener, cousin Kim Benner, and brothers Ken and Dave. Special thanks to the amazing Bone Marrow Transplant team at the University of Michigan who walked this 6 year journey with us sharing our laughter and tears, our friend and home nurse Julia O’Connell, and the caring folks at Ohio Living Hospice. Thank you to all of our dear friends and brothers and sisters in Christ who endlessly prayed for us and helped us during this chapter of our lives. The love and care you showed our family has blessed us this side of heaven and for eternity! A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Mainstreet Church, 5465 Moline-Martin Road, Walbridge, OH with visitation at 10:00 a.m., memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to lunch and bowling at Interstate Lanes, 819 Lime City Road, Rossford, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Cancer Connection of NW Ohio and Toledo Christian Schools.
