Tom Cooley, 56, of Genoa, died unexpectedly in his home Tuesday evening, June 15, 2010. Tom was born July 21, 1953, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Raymond and Ethel Stone Cooley. On July 8, 1972, in Genoa he married Karen J. Hoodlebrink, who survives him. For 34 years he had worked at Martin-Marietta Lime & Chemical Co. as a heavy equipment operator. Tom loved being around his children and grandchildren. He also loved to bow hunt in the winter and go camping and fishing with the love of his life and spending everyday with his best friend Daisy, his dog. In addition to his wife, Karen, Tom is survived by his children, Sheila James Jacops of Perrysburg, Linda Cooley and Thomas Cooley of Genoa, and Kristinna Cooley of Toledo; his grandchildren, Ashley Gomez, Jennifer Jacops, Brooklyn Jacops, Norma Almazan, Angelina Almazan, and Steven Almazan; and his best friend, Daisy. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Sipperley, Wayne Cooley, Robert Cooley, Leona Stamper, Glenda Pride, Cathy Cooley, David Cooley, Beth Pennington, Daniel Cooley, and Becky Lykins. His parents preceded him in death. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, in the funeral home with interment to follow in Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery, Elmore. The family has suggested memorials for Tom to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452.
