Thomas Syler Brewer

Thomas Syler Brewer, age 72 of Toledo and Holland, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Thomas was born on October 12, 1953 in Toledo to J.B. and Mary (Gray) Brewer. After High School graduation, Thomas served his Country honorably in the US Marine Corps as a Rifleman and served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, Thomas enrolled in trucking school. He was employed at Jeep for most of his career and retired after 28 years. He was a lover of any animals and English Mastiff's were his dog of choice. He enjoyed Auctions and loved vintage things such as art signs and coins. He enjoyed buying and fixing up old homes in his neighborhood and was called the "Mayor of Erie Street". He would help anyone he could and his bark was worse than his bite. Thomas loved Popeye's Chicken, dark chocolate Milky Ways and Coca Cola. His family said, "Food was his first love" He had a "Heart of Gold" and a "shitty grin".

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; J.B. and Mary Brewer, twin, Theresa Louise, sister, Barbara Harrington, and brothers; Rodney Brewer and Robert Main. He is survived by his daughter, Shawna Merriweather (Dro), sisters; Rosemary Carter (William) Jessie Smith (Dave) and Tamara Daly, brothers; Kenneth Brewer (Tina) and Michael Brewer, niece, Mary Ann Smith, nephew, Chris Brewer (Kim), and many other nieces and nephews.
