Tom Bielski

March 3, 1945 — July 29, 2025

Thomas Allen Bielski, fondly known as Tom, passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on March 3, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Rutkowski) Bielski.

A graduate of Sylvania High School, Tom went on to attend the University of Toledo, where he not only earned his degree in finance but also proudly played basketball for the Rockets. It was there, on the very first day of his first class in 1963, that he met Mary Cecalek—the love of his life. They married in 1967 and celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage together.

Tom enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the financial services industry, working alongside his son for 25 years. A trusted advisor and loyal colleague, he was known for his professionalism, wisdom, and deep commitment to his clients.

An accomplished athlete and lifelong sports enthusiast, Tom dedicated many years to officiating high school and college basketball and football, earning the respect of players, coaches, and fellow referees alike. A devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, he found joy in attending major sporting events with his son, including the Super Bowl, the Masters Tournament, and the World Series.

Tom was a man of many passions. He was an avid stamp collector, fascinated by the stories each piece of postage held. He also deeply cherished summers at Round Lake in the Irish Hills, where five generations of family have gathered, made memories, and celebrated traditions that spanned decades.

Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He took great pride in never missing a single one of his grandchildren’s soccer games, cheering from the sidelines with unmatched dedication and joy. His love for his family was constant and unwavering, and his presence in their lives was a source of strength and inspiration.

Tom’s legacy lives on in the family he treasured, the friendships he built, and the countless lives he touched.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Bielski; son, Jeff (Leslie) Bielski; grandchildren, Ashley (Paul) Hart, Alexis (Andy) Mullikin, Brittany (Michael) Besly, and Nick Rakich; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10 am- 12 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. The Funeral Service will begin at 12 pm in the funeral home. Tom will be laid to rest privately at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
