Thomas W. Bast

Thomas W. Bast, 72, of Lemoyne, Ohio, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Clare Commons, Perrysburg, Ohio. Tom was born in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Robert F. and Helen Mae (Schultz) Bast.  He had attended the former Woodville, High School. Tom was a mechanic for the former Matlack Trucking Company retiring in 1997. He loved spending time with his daughter and grandchildren and was very active in their lives. Tom and his girlfriend of more than 30 years, enjoyed hunting for unique antiques, often making a trip around that purpose.  He was an avid bird and squirrel watcher and had numerous numbers of both around his backyard feeders. Tom was also an avid motorcycle rider for many years. Surviving Tom are his daughter, Rachael Operacz, two grandchildren Michael and Stephanie Operacz, longtime girlfriend, Karen Vaughn, her daughter, Micki Vaughn, brother, Robert (Carolyn) Bast, sister, Elaine Bast and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service for Thomas will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, September 16, 2019 preceded by visitation starting at 10 AM in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio 43430.  Interment will be in the Elliston Cemetery, Elliston, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society, 740 Commerce Dr. Suite B, Perrysburg, OH 43551 or Nature Nursery, 7790 C.R. 152, Whitehouse, OH 43571.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
