Hopple Theron L. MD Theron L. Hopple, MD passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Kingston Care Center, age 92. Theron was born in Valpariso, Indiana on May 23, 1917 to Harry and Faye Hopple. He graduated from Devilbis High School in 1934. During those years, Theron, an accomplished musician, led The Bud Hopple Orchestra a 10 piece band playing at many venues in and around Toledo. He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1938 and earned his MD degree from the University of Chicago in 1942. He met his wife of 66 years, Lorraine Klein, a student at the University of Chicago and they married on January 16, 1943. After graduation, Theron entered military service in the Navy and was attached to a Marine unit which served in the South Pacific. After discharge he took a residency in neurosurgery in Chicago and Toledo. Theron entered practice in Toledo in 1947 as a Neurosurgeon. He was Chief of Staff at St. Vincents, Mercy and St. Lukes Hospitals. He retired from practice in 1979. Theron was a Diplomat, American Board of Neurological Surgery, Fellow of American College of Surgeons; member of Congress of Neurological Surgery; Ohio State Neurosurgery Society; AMA; OSMA; and Past President of Toledo & Lucas County Academy of Medicine. Theron was also a member and President of Downtown Coaches Association. His hobbies included woodworking and photography and he enjoyed the active sports of tennis, golf, skiing and traveling, especially our countrys National Parks. Theron is survived by his wife, Lorraine and four children, Diane Ronald Bregenzer, Carol Theodore Krause, Leslie Williams and Craig Patricia Hopple. Papa Hopple was a wonderful grandfather of ten and a great grandfather of eleven. Memorial Service will be planned at a future date.
