Theresa “Terri” Weide, 88, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 22, 2020. She was born to Charles and Barbara (Kreuz) Vollmar on May 22, 1932, the fifth of nine children. She was a lifelong Toledo area resident. One of her proudest accomplishments as a high school student was the position of editor-in-chief of her senior yearbook before her graduation from Whitney Vocational High School. After graduation, she married James Finch on October 14, 1950 and became a military wife while he served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the military, they settled down in the Toledo area and began to raise their family of four children. As a mother, Terri insisted upon her children’s cultural as well as academic educations. Throughout their lives, she encouraged and supported her children’s various art, music, sports, and dance endeavors. In her middle years, Terri began a second career. She worked in the tax and payroll departments of Owens-Illinois and as a secretary for several Toledo businesses. She was also a very active member of the Catholic Church, serving and volunteering at St. Clement, St. Catherine, and St. Joseph parishes. She enjoyed needle arts and became an accomplished seamstress, creating many elaborate dance costumes for her daughter. She also shot competitive archery with her husband for many years as a member of Mudjaw Bowman’s Club. On one occasion, she actually shot a rare perfect match score. Once her children matured, she and her husband also found time to travel occasionally with their close friends. Terri became a grandmother for the first time at the age of 42, and thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of her many grandchildren as they came into her life. She pursued oil painting and golf as new hobbies in her later years, after her husband of 47 years passed away on July 20, 1997. She also became a member of Associates of the Sisters of St. Francis, and worked for several years in the office of her daughter’s business, the Wallpaper Studio. In 2003, she met and married her second husband, Harley Weide. She soon retired and traveled extensively with him throughout the US and Europe. With Harley, she also realized her lifelong dream of visiting the Holy land. There, she witnessed Harley’s baptism in the River Jordan. Together, Terri and Harley enjoyed 18 years of marriage, and he survives her. Also left to cherish her memory are daughters, Vicki (Randy) Foeller and Becky Howard; sons, James (Jennifer) and Douglas (Jean) Finch; sister, Patricia (Robert) Evans; stepsons, Bruce (Jane) and Craig Weide; sister-in-law, Zita Vollmar; brother-in-law, James Winhoven; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Barbara Vollmar; her brothers, Charles, Donald, Edward, Joseph, and Gerald Vollmar; sisters, Rita Grayczyk and Bernadette Winhoven. Visitation will be held from 2-8:00 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. Toledo, OH. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St. Sylvania, OH at 11:00 am on Monday, December 28, 2020. The Mass will be available to watch live by visiting www.walkerfuneralhomes.com, going to Terri’s page, and clicking on her “Tribute Wall”. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable donations to Cherry street Mission, St. Joseph Catholic Church, or the Sisters of St. Francis.
