Theresa F. Shultz

Theresa F. Shultz, 86, of Sylvania, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023, with family by her side. The daughter of Edmund Kurdys and Mary Steinbart, Theresa grew up in St. Hedwig’s Parish, attended Central Catholic High School and graduating from Woodward High School, also attending the University of Toledo. Theresa married Robert Shultz on February 16, 1957. They enjoyed raising their four children at Devils Lake in the summer and many weekends throughout the year creating lifelong memories. After raising her children Theresa held administrative positions, eventually working for the Toledo Museum of Art where she managed the Docent tour scheduling from 1987 through 2009, a role she enjoyed immensely while making many wonderful friends. She participated in many of the Docent trips, traveling throughout the US as well as abroad. Many of these friendships lasting her lifetime. In later years Theresa and Bob spent time boating around Lake Erie and the islands and loved taking family vacations with their children and grandchildren. Theresa enjoyed the arts, traveling regularly throughout the tristate area to various art shows. Organizing an annual Stratford trip to see plays, enjoy friendships and good food for more than 20 years was among her favorites. She had a love for flowers and gardening, enjoyed her weekly mahjong games with friends as well as book club. She loved cheering on Michigan football and Xavier basketball. In retirement she enjoyed working at Walker Funeral Home as a greeter. Theresa lived a wonderful life filled with many close lifelong friendships and will be dearly missed.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, a brother, Eugene Kurdys, husband Bob of 55 years and daughter, Linda Shultz. Theresa is survived by her children; Bob Shultz Jr., Sandra Shultz (Robert Dickens) and Jeannie Gibson (Brett), grandchildren; Brandon Shultz, Lauren Mann, Christopher and Melissa Rhoades, Alissa Shultz and Sage Gibson, great-grandchildren; Madison, Mia, MacKenzie, Lennon and Colton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Church, 5373 S. Main St. in Sylvania. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Theresa’s family sends their heartfelt Thank You to the nursing staff on the 5th floor of Flower Hospital for the care they provided to our mother and to Northwest Ohio Hospice for their support during her time with them.
