Theresa M. Schurfeld

Theresa Margaret Schurfeld, 91, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. She was born in Toledo, OH on August 22, 1933, to Walter and Stella (Josefowicz) Swartz.

She met the love of her life, Gustave Schurfeld, at a German dance where she was a Swiss singer, and the rest was history. They were wed six months later and would have celebrated 70 wonderful years together this July. She cherished her family and loved going on rides together in their Model A. She especially loved living at the lake house in recent years. Theresa was skilled at sewing, she enjoyed making purses and quilts. She also made beaded earrings and necklaces. Theresa was a great wife and cook who took pride in her family and was always there for them. She volunteered at the Ottawa County Humane Society and treasured her kitty, Caroline.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gustave; daughter, Katrina (Emil) Mechel; and extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Stella; sisters; Irene, Alice, Gertrude; and brother, Leonard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, beginning at 10 am at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH 43537, where the funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
