Theodore Harry Gordon

Theodore H. Gordon, age 87, passed away Friday, January 15, 2010 at his home in Ottawa Hills, OH. Ted was born October 16, 1922 in Monroe, MI to Joseph and Florence Gordon. A talented athlete, Ted was known as Speedy Gordon and played varsity basketball for three years, beginning as a sophomore, for Monroe High School. He was recognized as a High School All State Basketball Player in Michigan for his many accomplishments on the court. Ted was able to continue playing basketball while serving in the U.S. Army and obtained the rank of Major before being honorably discharged. Ted graduated from Michigan State University in 1947 with a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering. His career took him all over the world and he settled in Montreal, Canada for a short time before returning to the Toledo area. He worked for various Toledo area companies including Plascon, Maumee Chemical, LOF, and OI. Ted held a number of patents in his profession. He continued to do consulting work for several businesses after retiring. Ted is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor; daughter, Terribeth Tim Moore; grandson, Timothy Moore, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Goldberg; and niece, Faye Henry Lybeck. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Esther Waddell and Diana Joffe; and brother, David Gordon. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 -7:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
