Thelma L. Petas, age 57, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2018 following an arduous and valiant battle with cancer. She was born June 6, 1961 in St. Louis, MO to the late Dr. Stergios and Frances (Jamoulis) Petas. Thelma graduated from St. Ursula Academy in 1979, attended John Carroll University, received a BS from University of Toledo and did graduate studies at Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Thelma later earned a BA in Metaphysical Studies from Delphi University. She owned and operated successful construction, promotions and doll companies. Thelma was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Thelma enjoyed music, travel and studied astrology. She was athletic, emotionally intelligent, kind and compassionate. A creative person, children were drawn to her and she was everyones favorite aunt. Thelma is remembered for simply living life with purpose and commitment. Surviving is her partner, Anette Norden; siblings, Susan Doukides (Dr. Panos), Marina Wade (Robert) and James Petas (Tobey); beloved nieces and nephews, Theodore (Agelika), Steven, Nicholas, Stephanie, Abigail, Kelsey, Isabella, Olivia and Claire, and great nephews Panayiotis and Konstandinos. She was also preceded In death by her brother, Nicholas Petas. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) with Trisagion prayers at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 29, 2018 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 802 N. Superior Street, Toledo. Interment Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Thelmas name are suggested to Holy Trinity Cathedral.
