Thelma M. Hudec

Thelma Maxine Hudec, 81, lifelong resident of the Gypsum and Port Clinton area, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Genoa Retirement Village, Genoa, OH. Maxine was born on December 25, 1927 in Port Clinton, OH to Horace and Dorothy Goode Runion. On January 26, 1946 in Port Clinton, OH she married Andrew G. Hudec, Sr. and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1989. Maxine retired as a waitress from Sonnys Snack Bar. She was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Port Clinton. At church, Maxine was involved in the Guild Hall Committee, Sunday School teacher, Vestry and various other committees. She was exceptionally gifted in all forms of crafts, painting, needlepoint, crocheting, and above all very talented in quilting. Maxine was a member of numerous quilting organizations. She loved to play pinochle, euchre, and other board games. Maxine was a Cub Scout den mother. She also loved to bake and cook. Survivors include: sons: Andrew G. Sandra Hudec, Jr. of Genoa, OH; Carl J. Nancy Muggy Hudec Sr. of Timonium, MD; grandchildren: Jennifer David Gottwald, Christopher Hudec, Carl Hudec, Jr., Charlene Hudec, William Hudec; sisters:Virginia Marcinek, Evelyn Bauser, Charline Mike Kerul. Maxine is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and daughter-in-law: Charla Steffens Hudec. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 2-8 p.m. in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, Port Clinton. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be given to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Erie Shores Council Boy Scouts of America, or to any charity of the donors choice .
