Thelma I. Gomez

Thelma Irene Gomez, 91, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Genoa, Ohio, on July 7, 1931, to Arthur and Flora (Chevalier) Rose. She was married to Nick Gomez on March 18, 1950, and the spent the next 70 years together until his passing in 2020, he was the love of her life. She and Nick never went anywhere without each other. When he passes away, she lost half of her heart, for the two of their hearts together were truly one.

Thelma’s hobby was Bingo. She and Nick played seven days a week at times! They won many big jackpots and they liked to share their winnings. In fact, the last week of her life she continuously recited Bingo numbers! On Sunday, December 4 her daughter Robin felt that she hit the biggest jackpot and went to Heaven to be with her beloved Nick!

Thelma is survived by her daughters, Arlene (Dale) Ragland and Robin Miller, grandchildren, Brian Gomez, Andrew (Isabel) Gomez, Dustin Flores, and Austin (Eleni) Flores, and great grandchildren, Andrew Gomez, Jr., Daniel Gomez, and Maria Luisa Flores. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick Gomez and her son, Phillip Gomez, along with ten siblings. Thelma was the last “Rose” in the bouquet.

Also, a special “Thank You” to Mindy & Ryan at Genoa Care Center, she loved you. And to the many staff members who made her smile!

Visitation for Thelma is scheduled on Thursday, December 8, 2022, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM, followed by burial, next to her loving Nick, at Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa.
