Terri L. “Shorty” (Boos) Manuel, 68, passed away peacefully with beloved family by her side on Tuesday, January 2, 2023. She was born August 7, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio to Fern Jack Boos and Catherine “Pat” Patricia Boos Smith. She was a 1972 graduate from Whitmer High School. She loved dance and was a pantherette and hula hoop champion in her younger years. Terri spent much time at her parent’s horse ranch and became an experienced rider and horse caretaker. She shared this love of horses with family and helped to develop this love of all animals to not only her children, but also her grandchildren.
Terri also loved music and played lead guitar in a band called Ohio Country with her sister, Sherry (Boos) Blakeman. Fond memories were had by all in not only her younger band days playing all over Ohio, but also in later years as she spread that love of music with her children and grandchildren. Terri was a homemaker and truly made her house a loving and warm home for her family to enjoy. Terri truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She did for others as her parents and grandparents had done before her: a small note, a kind word, a hug, a home cooked meal, vegetables from her garden to the less fortunate, a well needed lesson, a song and sending someone home with a small gift were all simple gestures that she did for all who were blessed to know her. Terri had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was incredibly strong, had a beautiful soul, and loved helping others and animals alike. She loved gardening, being out in nature, the beach, animals, reading mysteries, music, coloring, and making her home an amazing place for herself and others.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fern Jack Boos; grandparents, Minerva “Nan” Mae (McLaren) Gose, Grant “Pop” Gose, Grant “Bud” Edward Gose. She is survived by her mother, Catherine “Pat” (Don) Smith; sister, Sherry (Doug) Blakeman; children, Herman (Kelly) Manuel III, Melissa (Steve) Howard, Stephanie Manuel; grandchildren, Michael, Alec, Hayden, Carlie, Amanda, Sierra, Patty; and countless other extended family members and friends.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate one of the most beautiful people anyone could ever know on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623. Burial will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Toledo Lucas County Humane Society in honor of her love of animals. Everyone who knew her knew not only was she an amazing person, musician, and mother, but also understood her deep passion for wanting to help animals and her fierce advocate for the humane treatment of and saving all animals.
