Teresa Shumate, 66, of Toledo passed away in her home naturally on July 25th, 2022.
She was born in Gainesville, Georgia, a boy-girl twin, to her parents, James Allan Sr. and Nellie (Chambers) Allan, June 5th 1956.
Her lifelong battle with Diabetes did not stop her from enjoying life. She graduated with honors from Johnson High School, as 1st flutist and enjoyed traveling around as a member of the, “Gainesville Chorale.” She graduated University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s in Science for Home Economics.
She looked up to her older siblings and was very close to her twin brother Tommy. They had a silent language of love only they could understand. She loved her children and her family. She could sew anything and, much to their dismay, often adorned her daughters in matching hand-sewn clothing. Her love of music started at a young age in church choirs and musicals. She loved singing and playing the flute, loved all kinds of music, and adored animals. She had a dry sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She sang up until she was unable to, as an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church choir in Toledo, Ohio.
She had many different careers, but her favorite jobs always included working with people who loved to laugh.
She was very proud of her daughters who are both currently continuing education through college courses.
Surviving, are her daughters, Heather (Ken) Wetmore, and 4 grand-daughters of Beavercreek, Ohio, and, Katy Shumate, of Marion, Virginia. Siblings, Marie Allan Breed of Gainesville, Georgia, Jim (Starr) Allan, II of Canton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Tommy, and both of her parents.
Her daughters would love for you to share stories of her on the online tribute wall provided and all are welcome to attend her service.
