Ted C. Taylor, age 89, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018, at St. Anne’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. The son of Hilma K. (Mauk) and W. Harvey Taylor, he was born on February 17, 1929 in Sheffield, PA. He grew up in Marienville, PA and was a 1947 graduate of Marienville High School. He entered the Air Force in 1948 and upon his honorable discharge in 1952 he moved to Toledo, OH. He worked 28 years for the Toledo Mold Co. and 7 years for Ohio Permanent Mold, retiring in 1992. Prior to entering the service he worked at the Tionesta (PA) Forest Press, the county newspaper. Ted enjoyed all music, especially Big Band and Swing. He took trumpet lessons in his youth and played drums in a swing band, the Knox Glass Orchestra. He played piano by ear. On June 15, 1957 he married Sally Sproul. He was a member of, and Past Master of Collingwood Masonic Lodge 457. He served as Treasurer for five years. He was a member of Ft. He was a long-standing member of Mayfair-Plymouth Congregational Church, and sang in the church choir for many years. His wife Sally owned and operated Taylor Tours, Inc. for over 30 years. Ted looked forward each year to returning to his home state of Pennsylvania and spending time with his family there. Each spring he attended his high school reunion with his sister, Sally. In recent years, he enjoyed the limelight of being the oldest male graduate. He loved baseball and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers fan. One of his fondest memories was attending a Pirates game with his brother-in-law, Cliff and his nephews. He also followed football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Whitmer High School. He attended every Whitmer football game during the years his daughters were in marching band. He enjoyed reading, history, golfing, camping vacations, family time in the backyard swimming pool, and collecting stamps, an interest he shared with his brother-in-law, Tom. He had many friends, including his Mayfair-Plymouth Church family and his special friend, Doreen Lawrence. Ted was a wonderful and loving brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He fervently loved his family, grandchildren and his beloved dog, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his wife Sally in 2013. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy Taylor (Steven Lynch) and Shelly (Michael) Stoepler, two grandchildren, Megan (Michael) Jablonowski and Sean Stoepler, his sister Sally (Clifford) Keth of Clarion, PA, and eight nieces and nephews.
