Sylvia E. Schrader, 98, of Dearborn, Michigan, died Monday, September 2, 2019, at Arden Courts of Livonia in Livonia, Michigan. Sylvia was born August 20, 1921, in Prairie Depot, Ohio, to William H. and Sylvia May (Plantz) Bresler. She married Lawrence F. Schrader, Sr. in Oak Harbor, Ohio, on November 17, 1941, and he preceded her in death November 2, 1979. Sylvia was a former member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dearborn. Sylvia’s love of life was best reflected in the way that she lived it. Sylvia loved and cared for her husband Lawrence until his last moments on this earth and continued to carry that love for him throughout the rest of her life. Her love of her three sons was absolute and unconditional and that love was returned to her a thousand times over. She loved her work as a bank teller and also as the office manager of Personalized Marine Maintenance working there until she was 94 years old. Sylvia had also been an active volunteer, raising funds for breast cancer research and for the Crawford-Armstrong Handicap Association. She was a member of the Detroit Yacht Club and traveled extensively with the Nomads Travel Club-Ireland, Sweden, the Caribbean Islands and Hawaii being among some of her favorite places in the world. Sylvia enjoyed ceramic painting, knitting, gardening and dance, participating in Arthur Murray’s dance competitions throughout the Midwest. In the end, it was her love of family, friends and memories of growing up on the farm in Ohio that sustained her. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Linda) Schrader, Jr., William Schrader (Denise Gimpel) and David Schrader. Her parents, husband and three sisters preceded her in death. A private graveside service will be held in Roose Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorials for Sylvia may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 21915 Beech St., Dearborn, MI 48124.
