Suzanne “Sue” Murra, 82, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023. She was born on September 7, 1940, in Springfield, IL, to her late parents Stanley and Irene Crutcher. Sue grew up in Illinois alongside her two brothers, attended Catholic schools and graduated in 1958. Soon after meeting her future husband, Sue moved to Toledo and married Fred Murra on August 1, 1959, and together they had 4 sons. The couple later separated, and Sue’s children formed a large, extended family with many grandchildren.
From a young age, Sue was a motivated woman with big aspirations. Professionally, she was very proud to own her own real estate company, Beacon Real Estate. She worked for many years in the field as a Real Estate Agent and Broker, and later in life taught real estate classes at Owens Community College. She volunteered her time for many years with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and enjoyed her time there helping kids in need. In her younger years, Sue enjoyed bowling and loved playing cards. She was never much of a cook but loved to meet up with her friends and family for a good seafood meal and a glass of scotch. Anyone who knew her knows that Sue loved to shop, both for herself and especially for her grandchildren. As the matriarch of her family, she was very outspoken and confident, which led to large family gatherings that never disappointed.
Sue was a straightforward, knowledgeable woman who had a clever knack for convincing people that she was right, regardless of the topic of conversation. She kept a strong group of friends and will be very missed by all of those who loved her.
Sue is survived by her sons, Doug (Sheila) Murra, Casey Murra, John Murra; grandchildren, Grayson (Anne), Cassen (April), Josh, Rebecca, Jensen, Isabella, Paxton, Francesca, Lucy, Nash; good friends, Jim O’Brien, Maureen Thorne, Marilyn Dreessen, Judie Dalton, Jeanie Wilson; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as her brother Jack’s family in Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Murra; daughter-in-law, Rae Murra; brother, Jack Crutcher.
