Suzanne Haggerty, 83, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Annes Hospital in Toledo, OH. Suzanne was born October 16, 1934 to Ralph and Margaret Smilax in Toledo. She was a graduate of Libbey High School and received her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Toledo, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Suzanne began her teaching career in the Bedford School District before moving to the Washington Local School District where she taught for 30 years and was dearly loved by her students. After retiring, Suzanne took up photography and enjoyed taking long drives in the country with her husband. She always had to have a red sports car and more often than not, a convertible. Suzanne was both a fantastic cook and baker and she had a wonderful collection of recipes. She was an avid fan of baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers, and loved going to games with her dad. She had a great sense of humor. Suzanne is survived by her husband of 60 years, James; children, Debbie (Bruce) Whitt, Jamie (Harry Merrick), and Tim (Shelia) Haggerty; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jane (Bob) Morgan and Dorothy (Bill) Bonser. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where services will be on Saturday at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery.
