Suzanne Francis (Dominique) Bowers passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026 at the age of 91 at her home of the past few years, Majestic Commons of Perrysburg (formerly Perrysburg Commons). She was born on February 2, 1935 in Waterville, Ohio to Donald and Iris (Gerkin) Dominique. She was the first born of 9 children. Sue entered the Convent at an early age and became a teacher where she taught elementary school at Ladyfield School in Toledo. After 25 years she left the Convent and lived on her own for the first time in her life in an apartment in Rossford, Ohio. It was there that she met Vernon Bowers whom she would eventually marry on November 16, 1990 at the former Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Rossford. They bought a home set down roots and proudly made Rossford their home. Sue continued to teach at the former Alter Elementary School and the current All Saints Catholic School until her retirement in 2003. As a teacher she forged many lifelong friendships with faculty staff and students. She was very attentive to her cats and enjoyed maintaining her yard. You could find her on her Wheel Horse mower several times a week until she was well into her 80's.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband Vern in 2019.
Surviving are her siblings, Yvonne "Bonnie" Griswold, Donald Charles (Kathy) Dominique, Veronica (John) Hart, Marie Heinig, Christine (Randy) Loder, Frances (Cliff) Blenderman, Alexander (Shari) Dominique and June (Tom) Szpytman; step-son, Larry Bowers; grandchildren, Lori (Bob) Malfara and Robert (Nicole) Bowers; great grandchildren, Nichole (Chad) Burkholder, Andrea (Keaton) Wineman, Ava Bowers and Nick Bowers; and great-great grandchild, Kaden Burkholder.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends including Norma Ramirez and Brian and Wendy Sujkowski and their family.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank to all the staff and residents at Majestic Care Commons of Perrysburg for the exceptional care and friendship given to Sue over the past few years but especially during these past weeks.
"Sue was the matriarch of our family and we will miss her dearly but we know she is in heaven."
