Suzanne Biggs, 85, of Maumee, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 12, 2023 in Promedica Hospice, Sylvania, OH.
Sue was the daughter of Howard Sr. and Norma Welch of Swanton, OH. She was born on October 28, 1937 in Toledo, OH. She graduated from Swanton High School in 1955.
Sue married the love of her life, Gerald N. Biggs, in August 1956 at St. Richards Catholic Church in Swanton. Together forever, they raised two children, Jeff and Teri, and resided in Maumee, OH, and, later, their getaway in Lakeland, FL.
Sue began her work at Gulf Oil as a receptionist and clerk. She also loved her job at McDonald’s as the kids started grade school. Later, Sue worked at Hudson’s, volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital, and her favorite job was at State Home Savings Bank in Maumee as the window teller.
As a wonderful wife, Sue followed Gerry through his careers at Libbey-Owens-Ford and the Ohio Air National Guard. She was proud to say she dressed him every day for work, for the many dinners and parties they hosted and attended, and all the sweaters she could find to share at all the special gatherings with the grandkids and great grandkids.
Mom loved and cherished her children. After Gerry passed, she moved to Medina, OH to be close to her wonderful daughter Teri. After Teri passed, she returned to Maumee, where Jeff and Lisa cared for her. Sue adored all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite times included shopping for them and holidays at home. She made memories with all of her family at Miley’s Resort in Lake Bellaire, MI, and at their second home in Lakeland, FL.
Sue and Gerry traveled together throughout the country by car (no airplanes for Sue) doing several “laps” of the country, as well as, vacation cruises and journeys with their many dear friends.
Her life revolved around her family, but her friends were so important, too. Her long-time friend, Lois Coldiron stayed forever close to Sue’s heart, along with special neighbor Mary Dunn, Barbara Stein, Sherrie and Teri’s friends, and many more throughout the years.
Sue is survived by her son Jeff, and daughter-in-law, Lisa. She will forever love and cherish her grandchildren, Sara Recker (Nathan), Anthony Martin (Dory), Rebbeca Dickens (Seth), and Jenna Salow (Jimmie). She will greatly miss her great-grandchildren, Harper, Trystin, Griffin, Collins, Hadley, and Hunter. She loved her additional family Lori Biggs, Josh (Nichole), Brad, Matthew (Jordyn) Goatley, and little ones, Harley and Amelia. She is survived by her sister-in laws Beverly Welch (Howard Kent Jr.) and Kathy Neiman (Dave), and special nieces and nephews in Arizona, California, and Ohio.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Gerry, her daughter Teri, her parents, her brother Howard (Kent) Jr. Welch (Beverly), her sister Darlene Stoll (Wayne), and nephew Kevin Welch.
Mom was loved and will be missed by many.
Services will be private. Sue was generous and wishes you to consider memorial contributions to: Tunnel to Towers or Wounded Warriors, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
