Susiebel Koslovsky

Susie Weidman Koslovsky, aged 78, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023. Susie was the beloved daughter of R.H. and Polly (Swain) Weidman of Hartville, Ohio. Faithful sister to David Galloway of La Belle, Florida. Devoted wife of 43 years to James L. Koslovsky. Loving mother of Curt (Lisa) Koslovsky of Cincinnati, Ohio, Craig (Corie) Koslovsky of Tipp City, Ohio, Jennifer (Paul) van Driest of St. Louis, Missouri, Kimberly (Jimmy) Plew of Delaware, Ohio. Doting grandmother of Emily, Anna, Nicholas, Katherine, Mason, Cameron, Jocelyn, Natalie, and Marley. Lifelong friend to countless teacher colleagues who became part of her family.

Susie was a 1962 graduate of Lake High School in Hartville, Ohio and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Education from Heidelberg University as well as her master’s degree with Specialist honors in Education from the University of Toledo.

She began as an elementary school teacher in the Perrysburg Local Schools after college. She left that to develop the premier preschool of its time in conjunction with the Perrysburg United Methodist Church. After her children were in grade school, she returned to her love of teaching with the Washington Local School System for more than 35 years.

Susie, “Mrs. K” to her students, was a phenomenal teacher – it was truly her passion and her calling. Even in her last days, she talked about how much she loved teaching her many students throughout her career, many of whom remained in touch with her during her retirement.

Susie was an avid scrapbook and card designer, a brunch socialite with her close friends, the “spotter” on the speedboat at the lake. She loved to collect antiques as well as tell you the story behind them. She loved her children and grandchildren as well as the love of her life, Jim, with all her heart. Anyone who knew Susie well knew she would always greet you with a smile and a hug as well as a story of the day’s events. She never knew a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. She loved Ohio State Football and watching tennis matches on TV.

Friends and family may gather on Friday, July 21, 2023 beginning at 4 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH 43623, where a Celebration of Life service will begin at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
