Susan W. Sparks, 73, recently of Parrish, Florida, and longtime residents of Genoa, Ohio, passed away on March 20, 2021 in Bradenton, Florida after a brief illness. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 26, 1947, to Ernest and Ruth (Shepherd) Boros. Sue was working as the executive assistant to the shipyard commander in Pearl Harbor when she met and fell in love with Harold “Dave” Sparks. They were married in Waikiki on July 6, 1968 and spent the next 53 years together. Sue was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, in Genoa. She enjoyed working on the church Mission Committee, organizing the annual car shows, with her son Keith and having a good time with the Fun Bunch. She was also an avid quilter and made many quilts for family and friends. Sue is survived by her loving husband, Dave, son, David M. Sparks, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and brothers, Roger (Meridith) Boros and Raymond Boros. She was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Chad and Keith Sparks and sister, Barbara Roth. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, preceded by visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
