Susan D. Nowaczyk

Susan D. Nowaczyk, 80, of Holland, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2023, in the presence of her loving family. She was born on May 19, 1942, in Toledo to the late, Louis and Florence (Kosmatka) Kosakowski. Sue attended Whitney High School, graduating in 1960. She was a beautician for a time and then proudly stayed home to raise her children. She closed her career working as a retail manager.

In her free time, Sue loved playing volleyball, reading, playing cards, and going shopping. She had a huge heart for her family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She was best known for her Polish cooking and for baking coffee cakes and cookies. Sue and John had a cottage at Devils Lake for over 20 years where Sue enjoyed hosting her family and friends whenever she had the chance. She was a loving, kind, and generous woman who cared for others sincerely. Her selfless and patient spirit will be missed by all who loved her.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, John J. Nowaczyk, Sr.; children, Sherrie (David) Fravor, Jim (Dawn) Nowaczyk, John J. (Heather) Nowaczyk; grandchildren, Nathan, Lauren (Ben) Levy, Alisa, Mason, Courtney, Alexis, Johnny, Sage, Levi; great granddaughter, Charlotte; and brothers, John and Larry Kosakowski. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jacob.

Visitation will be held in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, on Friday, January 20, 2023, from 4-7 p.m., with a scripture service and sharing of memories at 7 p.m. Sue’s funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6149 Hill Ave., Toledo, on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. followed by entombment at Resurrection Cemetery.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Sue’s name to St. Jude’s Hospital, Cherry Street Mission, or the Northwest Ohio Food Bank.
