Susan Kroyer

January 26, 1961 — September 22, 2021

Sue was called to her Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was born on January 26, 1961 to Duane and Donna (Hall) Kroyer of Toledo, Ohio. Always an animal lover, she fostered and trained dogs for the “Service Dog Association of America.’ She also played piano and entertained at gatherings with her bagpipes. Besides her family, friends, and people in general, her furbabies were her loves, Sadie, Sullivan, and Oliver. She took them with her everywhere she ventured. She graduated Sylvania Southview High School in 1979. Right out of high school, she began working at Toledo Hospital as a nursing assistant until her graduation from Owens Technical College with an RN degree. She continued to work at Toledo Hospital for more than thirty years. She was well liked by all who knew her, especially her colleagues in the nursing profession. She was a friend, a mentor, was compassionate, hilarious, and quick to smile. An advocate for both nurses and patients. Always insightful, knowledgeable, and could calm a chaotic situation. Sue is survived by her fur baby, Oliver, who has been placed in the very capable hands of her friend, Ann; her sister, Christine (Tom) Pool; her nephews, Jason (Alaina) and Justin (Katlyn); her great-nephews, Zachary and Avery; her great-nieces, Elliana and Ryleigh; and sister-in-law, Pia Kroyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Svend Kroyer, and her great-niece, Molly May Pool. A combined memorial service for Donna, Susan, and Svend will begin at 5:00 PM on October 20, 2021 at Walker Funeral Homes, 5155 West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM prior to the combined memorial service. Nurses Honor Guard and Shriner Highland Bagpipers will be honoring her life. In lieu of flowers, consider making a memorial contribution to Toledo Humane Society, 827 Illinois Avenue, Maumee, Ohio.
