Susan W. Hayes

Susan W. Hayes, age 77, of Maumee, OH passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 6, 1931 in Lake Park, Iowa to Viggo and Verl Singer Winther. Susan was a Corporal in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. She was employed by JoAnn Fabrics for 8 years and All Sew for 7 years, retiring in 1997. Susan was a member of T.O.P.S. Chapter, the Maumee Elks and enjoyed golfing, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Susan is survived by her loving husband, John J. Hayes, Jr, who she married June 6, 1953 in Mannheim, Germany; children, Patricia Ann Carlos Menendez, John J. Linda Hayes III and Jennifer Chris Block; grandchildren, Matthew and Joe Menendez, Amanda, John IV and Brittany Hayes, Jacob and Megan Greear and Danielle Block; and sisters, Lela Bob Beach, Kathy Bob Sobota and Joanne Harold Rose; one great grandchild on the way. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorene, Mildred and brother, Kenneth. Family and friends may gather Tuesday from 4:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 6:00 pm in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH.
