Susan M. Gaul

Susan M. Gaul, 90, formerly of Genoa, Ohio, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 16, 1928 to John and Julia (Kriska) Placko. Susan married Paul Gaul on November 26, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio, who preceded her in death on November 21, 1975. Susan was a cook for various places throughout the area. She retired from St. Charles Hospital and had worked for the former Strauss Bakery and Sears & Robuck store at the former Woodville Mall. Susan was a lifelong member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa, where she had been active as a Sunday School teacher, Youth Fellowship advisor and a member of the Womens Guild. She, her husband and family were also custodians of the church for 20 years. Susan was also a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader in the Genoa area. Surviving Susan are her children, Paul (Karen) Gaul, Jr., Deborah (Mike) Phillips, Stephanie Gaul, Martha (Douglas) King, 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, brother, Donald (Sheelaugh) Placko and sister, Martha (Mike) Sammons. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A memorial service for Susan will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH. Following the service the family invites all to gather in the church hall for a time of fellowship.
