Susan Jean Fick

Susan Jean Fick, 65, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Monday, December 14, 2015, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH, surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born on October 08, 1950 in Sandusky, OH, the daughter of Donald and Mary (Strauss) Guendelsberger. On December 07, 1974, in, Port Clinton, OH, she married John E. Fick and he survives. Susan was a teacher for the Port Clinton School System for 30 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Loving Husband of 41 years: John E. Fick; Son: Matthew (Jennifer) Fick; Sisters: Judith Klotz and Diana (David) French and Sisters-in-Law Judith Ceccoli and Constance Frias as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and infant son: David Fick. The amount of lines given in the length and breadth of this column will never be sufficient or numerous enough to tell the story of her beautiful life. She was a gifted educator and a lifelong advocate of animal rights. She was at home in the outdoors and instilled the love of nature in all her students. The beauty she found in nature she masterfully recreated in numerous mediums and forms as an outstanding artist. Susan was constantly aware of life’s teachable moments and never failed to bring them into the light. She was active, energetic, and a fierce competitor and fighter right up until her final breath. Cremation has taken place under the direct care of Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. Private family services will be held.
