Susan Marie Basden

Susan Marie (Kohn) Basden, 56, of Toledo, Ohio passed away unexpectedly in her home on May 9, 2018. Susan went by many names; Sue, Susie, Ms. Sue, Mama Sue, Kohn-Head (to name a few), but the most important names she went by were Mom and Grandma Susie. A lifelong resident of East Toledo and member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Susie dedicated her life to those she loved. She spoke frequently of her family and shared with those close to her that growing up, her goal in life was to be a Mom – and boy was she. She was hands down, the absolute best. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. She had a way of giving motherly advice that always ended with no-nonsense practical honesty. Susie was a proud Waite H.S. graduate and worked for Toledo Public Schools for over 25 years. She lived life to the absolute fullest – and is no doubt dancing in heaven. Susie is preceded in death by her brother, Kris Lee Kohn and survived by her parents Christopher and Janice (Detlef) Kohn, daughters Carly (Damion) Allen, Bobbi Basden, Kelly (Josh) Lawrie, and Lindee (Corey) Autman. She is loved by many but held especially close by her grandchildren; Jaiden Cope, Kade Basden, Keelie Sue Marie Basden, Damion Allen Jr., Daniel Allen, Corey Autman II, Danica Allen, Anneliese Lawrie, Jaycee Johnson, and Emmeline Susan Lawrie. A special thanks to Pastor Beth Giller, the staff and volunteers of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 3pm-7pm at Hoeflinger-Shank Funeral Home, 3500 Navarre Ave, Oregon, OH. We will say our final goodbyes on Monday, May 14, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Road, Toledo, OH, 10am-11am, followed by a funeral service and fellowship luncheon.
