Susan Elizabeth Anderson

Susan Elizabeth Johnson Anderson, 84, of Lambertville, Michigan, beloved mother, nana and friend, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020. The daughter of C. Rowland and Helen Rex Johnson, she was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. Susan received a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Toledo. She loved teaching and taught elementary school for many years in both the Toledo Public Schools and at St. Teresa School in Toledo. A lifelong gardener with a passion for digging in the dirt, Susan was a member of the Maumee Valley Herb Society and the Monroe County Master Gardeners. She also belonged to the philanthropic organization P.E.O., and Delta Kappa Gamma a professional honor society of women educators. The friendships Susan formed, many with the women of these groups, brought her great joy. She held dear the time she spent with friends, the laughter they shared and the adventures they experienced. Susan was the heart of her family and put taking care of them first in her life. She was an amazing and caring mom and nana. She was always there to help others and gave selflessly to those around her. Spending time with her family, especially her grandson Joseph, was Susan’s favorite thing to do. She taught him her love of birdwatching, baking cookies, reading, and cheering on Michigan State University athletics. The memories of time spent together and her beautiful spirit are cherished by her family. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Charles Rowland Johnson, her mother, Helen Rex Johnson and her brother, Charles Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Melinda A. McGill, son-in-law Scott C. McGill and grandson Joseph R. McGill. Due to the current health crisis a private graveside will be held.
