Sue M Hoffman

Susan Marie Hoffman, 67, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away, Sunday, May 28, 2017 in her home. She was born on July 30, 1949 in Fremont, OH to Wilbur and Alice (Polyak) Whitman. On December 30, 1983 in Fremont, OH she married Mr. William F. Hoffman and he survives. Sue was a 1967 graduate of Old Fort High School, and she also obtained her bachelors degree in elementary education from Bluffton College in 1971. After her education was completed, she worked as a 3rd grade teacher at RC Waters and then finished her career at Oak Harbor Middle School specializing in language arts. Sue retired in 2011 after 38 years of teaching and looked forward to spending time with her family. Sue was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ where she enjoyed playing the hand bells. Sue was also an avid reader and a bird enthusiast, especially cardinals. She also loved to work in her yard, but most of all, she enjoyed being active in the lives and sporting events of her grandchildren whom she loved more than anything. In addition to her loving husband, Fred, of 34 years, Sue is survived by her daughter, Amy Sandrock (Ron), grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary and Reece Laughlin and Rylan Sandrock, brothers, Kent Whitman (Gail) and Tom Whitman (Gwen). She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Alice and her brothers, David and Keith Whitman. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Dave Voll at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
