Sue A. Detzel

Sue Ann Detzel, age 90, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025 at the Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, Ohio. She was born on August 19, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to John and Helen (Dugan) Hohenbrink. On August 22, 1953 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, Ohio, she married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence “Larry” Detzel, and he preceded her in death in 2020. Sue was the true matriarch of the family and among a lot of things guided the family in all their moves from Florida to California to Kansas and finally back to Ohio. She was an active member at St. Rose Catholic Church in Perrysburg and volunteered for various other organizations and activities; including but not limited to the Way Library in Perrysburg and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.

Sue is survived by her children, Diane (Marty) Hames of Maumee, Ohio, Mike (Kim) Detzel of Oak Harbor, Ohio, Connie (Ed) Sander of Curtice, Ohio and Becky (Charlie) Laux of Crestview Hills, Kentucky; grandchildren, Nathan and Tracy Krumnow, Sara Gaines, Katie Kwiatkowski, Andrew “Bubba” Sander, Nick and Zach Laux; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents and brother, Larry Hohenbrink.

To celebrate both Sue and Larry, a gathering for family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front Street, Perrysburg, Ohio, with the funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am in the church. Interment will be private in Elliston Cemetery, Graytown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rose Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
