Sue Ann Carter

Sue Ann Carter, 82, of Maumee, died December 15, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was born October 3, 1940, in Toledo to the late Art and Marion (Augusbaugh) Cady and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1958.

A woman of deep faith, compassion, and kindness, Sue had a heart for serving people in need. She was a social worker with Toledo Mental Health for over 20 years, a job that she loved. She also helped locate housing and offered follow up care for those struggling with mental health and distributed “God Bags” to many people on the streets of Toledo.

Sue enjoyed studying God’s Word. She served as superintendent of Sunday School at Advent Lutheran Church and deeply valued her relationships established in the many Bible studies which she was a part of over the years. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maumee. Sue also enjoyed crafting, playing cards (especially Pinochle), and found her greatest joy in spending time with her beloved family. She and her family performed many times at churches and other venues as the “Cady Family Singers” using The Sound of Music theme.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Roland; children, Greg (Traci), Wendy (Bruce) Gordon, and Brad (Betsy); 8 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Karin Thomas.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m., Monday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.). Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne St., Maumee, where additional visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Paul’s Outreach Center, Mosaic ministries, or the church.
