Steven Timonere

January 9, 1931 — February 6, 2023

Steven Timonere passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023, at 92. He was born January 9, 1931, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Vincent and Jenny Timonere. Steve attended undergraduate school at Findlay College and received his bachelor’s degree from Ohio University. He attended law school at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1955, and immediately joined the law firm of Doyle Lewis and Warner, where he remained throughout his career.

Steve was a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity and served on their Board of Trustees. He was a strong supporter of The Toledo Community Foundation, serving on the Board of Trustees as Vice President and President. Steve was a member of the Toledo Bar Association and was bestowed an honorary membership after 50 years. He was also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, where he was recognized for 65 years of service.

In 1956 Steve married Shirley Eighmy of Conneaut, Ohio. While Steve loved practicing law, he was quick to remind everyone that his greatest joy in life came from his marriage. Steve and Shirley were married for 62 years and raised three daughters, Jennifer, Stacia, and Anne. Steve was a supportive husband and engaged father and grandfather, always encouraging education and laughter.

Steve was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie, and his annual ice fishing trips to Canada. For over fifty years he and Shirley returned to the site of their wedding trip to fish on Manitoulin Island.

Steve was a boxing fan. He participated in Golden Gloves Boxing as a young man and, from there, never missed watching a big fight. Steve was also a lifetime Ohio State football fan and most enjoyed watching the Ohio State/Michigan game with his friends from Doyle, Lewis, and Warner.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Vincent and Jenny Timonere, his wife, Shirley Timonere, brothers Joseph, and Donald Timonere, and grandson Steven Bainbridge. He is survived by his brother Vincent Timonere, sister Theresa DiCesare, daughters Jennifer (David) Bainbridge, Stacia Timonere, Anne (Brian) Bennett, and grandchildren Jessica Bainbridge, Mike Bennett and Grace Bennett.

Steve will always be remembered for his generosity. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that those wishing to honor Steve consider a donation to The Greater Toledo Community Foundation (300 Madison Ave Suite 1300, Toledo, OH 43604) or Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank (24 E Woodruff Ave, Toledo, OH 43604). Memorial and interment will be private.
