It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our brother and uncle, Steven E. Fisher, 70, on Sunday, June 26, 2022.
Steve was born February 24, 1952, in Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1971 where he enjoyed playing baseball, running track and working at the old Showcase Cinemas on Secor Rd. in its heyday. After graduation he attended Owens Tech and then worked for many years in shipping and receiving at his father's company, Air Draulics, until becoming permanently disabled.
Steve's life was not an easy life. He spent the majority of it in group homes and nursing homes. While some people saw only his shortcomings, we saw a brother and uncle with a quick wit and a big heart who never gave anyone any trouble. Please teach your children and grandchildren that we all have differences and to accept those differences and to not be afraid to reach out a helping hand. The rewards you get back are tenfold and the difference you make in that person's life may be the only love and caring they have ever received. A kind word or just a smile and a hello can last for them a lifetime.
Steven leaves behind his sister Sandra Dondero-Perry (David) and many nieces and nephews, including nine great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, M. Vincent Fisher and Betty Fisher. He was also blessed with some great caseworkers and nursing staff over the years at the different facilities he was in. Thank you for the kindness you showed him.
A private burial will be held at Fort Meigs Cemetery on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022, where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents.
