Steven Lawrence Bryson was born May 21, 1957 and passed away unexpectedly, and way too soon for all that loved him, on December 22, 2023. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Steve was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan and was especially excited with how well both teams have done in the last year. Steve was born with a servant’s heart and served in many ways throughout his life. Steve was an Alderman for Marengo IL, coached local little league teams and served many years as a deacon in his Church. He later moved to Woodstock IL where he served as a probation officer for 14yrs before moving to Toledo, OH. The rest of Steve’s career spent serving the community and families as an eligibility specialist for Medicare/ Medicaid nursing home benefits. Above all else, Steve’s greatest accomplishment was his family. He met his loving wife Judy of 44yrs while in college in Illinois and went on to have 3 daughters. Steve and Judy shared a beautiful life devoted to their children. Even through ups and downs and tragedies, they perfectly complimented each other. They had an unwavering love that you could count on like a steady beacon of light in the darkness. Steve was so proud of all his daughters and often bragged about them. Even though he liked his alone time, those 3 girls, whom he often referred to as Kate, Meg, and Ab were his world along with his grandchildren and wife. Over the last year and a half of his retirement Steve was able to make special bonds with his grandchildren, whether it was chauffeuring them to practices, taking them out to breakfast before school, or dinners when their parents worked. He was lovingly given the title Gaga by his first grandson, which didn’t thrill him at first, but quickly became his perfect title. They all knew their Gaga would do anything for them if they needed. Steve was a one of a kind man, often referred to as the nicest guy they’ve met. He had a witty sense of humor, and genuine solid gold heart. He was strong in his faith and kind to everyone. He was a humble man who would give up anything to help his family. Steve stood as the leader of his family. He may not have originally imagined his life surrounded by girls, but wouldn’t have changed a thing, he was 100% a girl Dad. All his girls knew they could depend on him to catch them if ever
needed. His absence runs through this family like thread through a needle and everything we do is stitched with its color. Steve is proceeded in death by his parents Kathryn and Raymond Bryson and beloved granddaughter Lola Faith Palmer. Steve is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Katie (Scott) Palmer, Meghan (Steve) Ballmer, Abby (Cody) Scribner. His grandchildren Bryson, Braydon, Emerson, Emmett, Lucy, and Bowie. Also countless other family and friends that will dearly miss his presence. The family would like to thank the staff at UTMC who worked heroically to keep our guy here with us. Any monetary donations can be made to Steve’s wife to help with expenses related to his unexpected passing. Family and friends of Steve, Judy and his girls can celebrate Steve and pay their respects on Thursday, December 28 for visitation from 2-8 P.M. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home (501 Conant St. Maumee). The funeral ceremony will take place Friday, December 29 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home.
