“Death is nothing at all. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.”
Steve Verhoff, 77 of Monclova, Ohio, passed away on August 3, 2025. Steve was born on July 4, 1948, to Stephen and Rosena (Siefker) Verhoff and raised on the family farm in Columbus Grove, Ohio.
Growing up, Steve was an active member of the Putnam County 4-H program and the local chapter of the FFA. He graduated from Columbus Grove High School in 1966 and went on to complete his undergraduate studies at Ohio State University. He received his master’s degree from Purdue University. Steve taught science classes at Van Wert High School from 1970-1975 when he retired from teaching to enter the business world. Steve worked as a materials engineering manager for Surface Combustion for 30 years, retiring in 2006. Steve also spent weekends and vacation time helping to run the family farm operation first with his father, and then with his sister. Farming was always his true passion.
Steve enjoyed working on cars, especially his 1970 Mustang, and his wife’s 1973 Corvette and farm machinery. He could fix or repair just about anything. When he had the time, he enjoyed going to Adams Conservation Club to shoot on their target range.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Rosena (Siefker) Verhoff. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula; sons, Stephen Jr., and Anthony, who he always said were his greatest source of pride and joy; sister Patty Verhoff; brother-in-law, John (Kathy) Kuerten, and many cousins.
Steve’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the memory unit at Brookdale Bowling Green and Bridge Hospice for the loving care and kindness they always extended to Steve.
