Stephen T. Gorka, Jr.

Stephen T. Gorka, Jr., 68, of Perrysburg, OH, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born in Lincoln, NE to Stephen Sr. and Elizabeth (Jacoby) Gorka on February 14, 1947. He married his loving wife, Mary A. Blitz, in Lincoln, NE on August 9, 1975. Steve proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked for the United States Post Office for 42 years retiring in 2010 as the Postmaster in Defiance, OH and was a member of the Postmasters Association for many years. Steve is survived by his wife, Mary A. (Blitz) Gorka of Perrysburg, OH; children, David E. Gorka of Ypsilanti, MI, Stephanie L. (Joshua) Hoopingarner of Palatine, IL and Katherine A. Gorka of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Gracelynn Elise Hoopingarner and Michael Andrew Hoopingarner; brother, Michael D. (Cathy) Gorka of Lincoln, NE; and sister, Elizabeth (Merle) Wilken also of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael A. Gorka; brother, Roland Gorka; both parents; and nephew, Gabe Wilken. Friends will be received on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 3-7 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133), where a memorial service will begin at 7 P.M. Burial will be private.
